Oriana 1960 Oriana was built by Vickers-Armstrong at Barrow-in-Furness, England and was launched on 3rd November 1959 by Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of Kent. Oriana sailed on her Maiden voyage to Australia on 3rd December, 1960. Her Length overall was 804 feet, Breadth 100 feet 2 inches, Gross Tonnage 41,910, Shaft horse-power of 80,000 giving her a Service Speed of 27.5 knots. Originally built as a two class vessel to carry 1,750 passengers and 614 crew. When P&O secured the remaining shares of Orient Line, in 1960, she became part of the new joint company P&O - Orient Lines of Australia, which soon became P&O only. All the companies vessels were then redesignated as One-Class. This collection of menu cards dates from Various days in June 1976. The information about each illustration appears on the back cover of each card. |
